Pharmacy is (not) perfect

Currently I have seven subjects; General Chemistry II, Differential and Integral calculus, Electromagnetism, General Biology, The medicament and their evolution, General chemistry laboratory and English (the most boring in my opinion cof cof) and I have to say that I think that the workload is moderate, in the week, I have as minimum, three evaluations (seminary controls and laboratory controls) but my scheme is nasty and no because I choose it bad, all the second semester schedules are nasty; and the next semester (if all is good) I will have; Organic Chemistry, Analytic Chemistry, Cellular Physiology, Organic Chemistry laboratory; among others; that is to say; will be worse. And, like little, we have not a dining room (anexo is not a dining room >:^( ), and the library always is full of talking people, BUT other sites, like study rooms of the tottus are ok. About the laboratories is different, because always have reactives and although the precipitate glass, essay tubes and o...

Ph or pH?

Actually, I should begin this blog saying it´s possible that the career destroys me and forget the idea to study pharmacy. BUT suponning that all is good and differential and integral calculus don´t kill, could exist the remote possibility that beech a little opportunity that I course a postgraduate (I don´t want tempt to the destiny); about pharmaceutical regulation.  I know that I talk about this in my previous blog, but I think that it´s a good idea, because, I like this sector of the pharmacy; and is so necessary to get better the public health area in Chile, and thus is necessary personal whom is working for this. I would like study here, in the Universidad de Chile, but, if is possible, Germany, Switzerland or Netherlands is not a bad idea, in the same way as I´m studying now, that is to say, part-time course, although, blended system don´t sounds bad.  ((I was investigate, and the only place in Chile where it teaches something similar to this, is in the Universidad San...

ISP

I am studying pharmacist and the last semester, we have a subject about the work of the pharmacist, in this subject was a module, and in this module, pharmacists talk about his work and what  do them, in one, came a pharmacist that works in "regulatory area", that is to say, she is a intermediary in the formulation, modification and elimination  of laws related with the different aspects of the pharmaceutical industry; distribution, manufacture, price ,etc. She was a bridge between the ISP, the MINSAL and the industries. This is precisely the job that I would like dedicate me. It´s obviously a indoor job, but running since a office to other, But the pharmacist that came to talk us about her job, say that it is a job in which is necessary travel to different places; United States or Brasil, for example (this are places that she visits frequently). Actually, makes me indifferent to travel and it is not a problem. A little "problem" is that is necessary study so much...

I think is a little hard talk about only one "favourite" musician, but I will make an effort to talk about "They might be giants". It is probably you know a program called "Malcolm in the middle", well, the opening song is interpreted for They might be giants. I am not sure when I met this group, but should be around 2014, when I was in second year of secondary school. Is an American alternative or indie rock group, are know for their experimental music, and some define their style as geek rock (nerd rock xdd), this for some songs like "The Mesopotamians" or "Istanbul (not Constantinople)", this last songs appear in just dance xd. I can´t say that I like all songs group, some are indifferent to me, but in general I can say that like me this group because both the melodies like the lyrics are catchy; for example, "Doctor worm". Also, I like the mode that they say the things, "dark","serious", but "ha...

The last year in art class we had to discourse about the surrealism, and make a little presentation with this topic. In the presentation we sit back in the floor of the gym, lit candles, hide our heads inside our clothes and keep quiet. A classmate (I will call N now) went to for the teacher to the classroom, he did look around and interacted with N according to the plan. When the presentation finished, we stand up and we to the classroom, but a classmate (I will call L now) don´t do it. All, except L, went to receive our mark and when we came back, he was there, we did not speak him and wait to he “awake of him lethargy”. Around twenty minutes and he did not “awake”, until another group must to use the gym (I thing that was like eighth grade), and one of them speak him, and L not react, around three speak him, and L not react, around ten speak him, and L not react. When they came closer and surrounded him, he “awake”. We asked him what was happen and L said us that he never slep...

I don´t remember exactly when was, but was around four or five years ago. I went with my family to Antuco, is not a big city, but is known for the volcano that is near. In this moment of my life, I did want to study geology, and this trip was a perfect opportunity to know a powerful structure built for the nature. We were there about two or three weeks, around the eighth day we went to the volcano, in the in the path we saw a big monolith in memory of a military platoon, who dies in a blizzard when they are marching  from the barracks. When we arrive to the skirts of the volcano, the road was flat, as we were going forward, begin to be steeper. In a point (I remember so good this part), the soil was covered for a little black rocks with little craters, like meteorites and the air, smells like ashes, and we are not near of the volcanic cone. We traveled around fifteen minutes more and the air was gray, and smells like rotten eggs and ashes (Probably, for the sulfur), fifteen minute...

Turkey, like turkey

Image
An old and forgotten city between Europe and the middle east, between the black sea and the Aegean sea, in the Bosphorus, is Istanbul. Isn´t a country, but is a city in a country, that I would like to go, Turkey. Is a ancient country that was the territory of the Byzantine empire and later, of the Turkish empire (dah), Who brought with it, the official religion, Islam. In the ancient this place, controls the trade of goods from Asia and India to Europe; and the control of this region by the Turkish, caused the discovery of America. Personally I would like live in Istanbul or Edessa, ancient cities full of history. Is for this reason that I love this country, the history, so much things happened there, the biggest empires of the earth fought there for this strategic zone, Greeks, Persians, Assyrians, Romans, Saracens. The people that was there builds immense buildings, mosques, bridges, among others. I would like live or work in this place BUT exist a little problem, the...

In an occasion, after the A2 of maths I was so sad and tired, and I didn´t want go to English class, we have the intention  of tell it this to the teacher, we the hope that he allow us not to enter the class. Against all odds, the teacher invited us to enter his class, no with the objective of write the weekly blog, but with the intention that we forget (for a moment) the test and we let´s relax. This situation reflex mi general experience with the blogs, a space to forget what is happening around and write a text, read information to write it, and play chess when we finished. Is in this last moment when we talk with the teacher about different things, Tchaikovsky´s work, history, movies, etc. In general I think that the idea of select a topic from a list of topics is excellent, because the opportunity to select about of that we will write.  In the future a good idea (in my opinion) would be add more activities in relation with the career, for example, the teacher give a ...

The future is today, you heard me old?

Yesterday I´m reading about the scientist news of the last week and one, got my attention; until this year, should be a "cannon" know that the nervous system isn´t regenerable or even, that the spinal cord is iregenerable; but in December of this year Sergio Canavero will be the first doctor in perform a head transplantation to his patient Valeri Spiridonov. The physician affirms that he was effect this process in rats, and they survive! but, What´s the secret? really is simple, a chemical compound named polyethylene glycol, this compund has the property to regenerate the nervous system cells and promote the  reparation of this system. In general, this is important in many sciences of the health like the medicine or pharmacy, especially in this last, basically for the use for a chemical compound (drug) for a treatment. Is common the people what is paralysed for a accident of because has a ill in the childhood, but this method can restore the movement in this unlucky person...

Chemistry: the central science

Image
Since I was a child the sciences (naturals and socials) they seemed to me so interesting; I wanted be physician, and the anatomy was a science to "investigate" for around 3 years, I bought books about this, draw draws about this (Worth the redundant redundancy). When I was 12 years old in the school, we were studying  the bases of the chemistry; chemical elements, their symbols, the atomic models, so general things. Was in this moment when I met the chemistry (...and other sciences). I remember that in a test we must memorise the first ten elements of the periodic table, in this moment was a big challenge, and I learned the first 16. In this moment I noticed that this like me, and in the secondary I take the elective of Chemistry and I liked it even more. Now I´m studying Pharmacy and this career has a strong base in the chemistry, is for the reasons set out above that  my favourite subject is chemical laboratory techniques, Is a balanced subject in general, we have theor...

Mr. Sagan

Image
"We are stardust, let's prove it being brilliant" Really was so difficult choose only one scientist that I admire, Servet, Einstein; Nobel or even Elon Musk; but I already wrote about Musk, in Spanish, but doesn´t matter. Carl Sagan (1934-1996) is the best Science promoter that exist, surely the most recognised thing that he do, is "Cosmos", I´m speaking about the first (are two Cosmos, of Sagan and of de Grasse Tyson), aside from he was a prominent astronomer, astrophysicist and cosmologist; trough the observation of Venus he discovered the global warming in planetary scale. Also he was a great writer I had the pleasure of read "Pale blue dot. A vision of the human future in space" and is a so beautiful book. He is the responsible of the idea of put a gold disc in the Voyager I and in the Voyager II with the hope of transmit information about the humans, anyway he was aware that this "message" could be could be difficult to decipher...

Would be hard say which is my favourite book, but I can make a "list" with the books what I liked most.  In general I like the works of Friedrich Nietzsche, he isn´t a author like King o Christie, is a sooooooo dense philosopher (denser that Kant or Hegel even); "the genealogy of morals", "the Antichrist", "thus spoke Zarathustra", "the twilight of the idols"; are the ones I like most. Is so important to name in this "list" to Edgar Allan Poe; "the raven", "the black cat", "the delator hearth", are the ones I like most. Oscar Wilde and his "selfish giant", "the nightingale and the rose" are others... Another book that I like is the little prince, and in this i will write a little more, not because is long, but have so much interpretations and is so metaphoric (I had the theory that the little prince is dead, but the quotes of the fox they make me doubt). Is this what mak...

One of my favourite photos.

Image
Really this photography isn´t mine, in fact, not even was taken by me; is a very popular image that is in Internet, I don´t know who and when take it, but every time that I go to my home in subway and this goes through Quinta Normal station, I remember this photo, and laugh (and no a few). The image is a person (I don´t know if is man or woman) crushing a balloon (I´m not sure) with a minion shape, I get the impression that the person who is next are trying to stop this savage act, definitely the people that is around no note it, apparently the photo was taken from the other side of the platform of the subway.  I don´t know why this photo makes me so funny but every time that I look it in Internet, am in Quinta Normal or a friend shows it to me, I laugh.

Music in my life

Image
Really, I do not like to much the music, but are a little quantity of singers or groups that I like. In general, I prefer the indie music and a few German groups of Rock (Faun or A3 for example). Anyway is easier say the music that I hate, because is only one, the reggaeton. When I was a child I almost did not listen to music, but the sound of pianos, violins or flutes are sufficient. Is for this that I know to much about classical music. Also, I was in a religious school, and that no helps to know new music. How I never did have passion for the music, I neither learn to play any instrument (except the flute, that I did must to learn to play it in the school.), anyway, in my family the majority play instruments, especially, the guitar. Also, to many of my my friends play the guitar, I am the only useless in as far as music is concerned :c Is a good moment to speak about the music of films that I like, in general the soundtrack of star wars are awesome, but I prefer the soundt...

My Nintendo 64 :D

Image
Really, isn´t a old apparatus, but my oldest memories playing some videogame are with a Nintendo 64, this videogame console had so many games, but I only can remember a few of these, Super Mario 64, The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time and The legend of Zelda: Majora´s Mask. The first are easy, the second; hard, the third soooo hard. Really... the three are easy, but in this time the forest temple or the stone tower temple are imposible xD. I don´t know how was that we bought but some day wasn´t in my house and the following day was in the table in front the TV. If I never had my Nintendo 64 my childhood, I would to have been forced to socialize with the children of the street where I lived. Actually I don´t use periodically, sometimes I bag it of the closet and play a few.

When I was ten, I wanted study to be a Doctor because I thought that is the only career whit science (I was really wrong xD). The time passed and the studies was not something important, until the last year of primary school I learned in natural sciences related topics with the atoms, atomic models and periodic table, but my favourite topic was definitively; the chemical elements, I remember that we must memorise the first ten elements for a test, but I was so fascinated with the subject that I learn the first thirty-six (Krypton), but in the test I forgotten the seventeen element (Chlorine), since then I never forgot this element. In the high school the idea to be a Doctor still chasing after me, but I continued loving the chemistry, it was no until the last year of high school that a classmate tell me the idea of study chemistry and pharmacy. When I left the high school my NEM was so sad and I  realized that study physician definitely isn´t a option, so now it was easier to de...

Hello, my name is Ignacio Guitérrez but I prefer that you say me Nacho. I was born on May 3 in Santiago, Chile. My father have a business of air conditioner and my mother is kindergarden educator. He used to live in Peñalolen but when knew to my mom he moved house to Estación central, that is the place where we live actually. I studied my basic education in Colegio Holanda de la congregación religiosa de las hermanas franciscanas penitentes recolectinas de la inmaculada concepción de María, it´s a so long name for a simple school, but i was there a good part of my childhood. Then, I continue my studies in Liceo san Pedro Poveda, there we use a lab coat all the day but we did no use uniform. And now I am studying chemistry and pharmacy in Universidad de Chile, I´m so happy here because I love the career and the new people I´m meeting.
